Hockey PEI Social Media Policy
Hockey PEI recognizes that social media is a big part of the game of hockey today. As such, it was time to officially adopt a policy regarding the use of social media within the province.
“Hockey PEI encourages the use of social media to help promote and celebrate the game”, stated Hockey PEI President Goops Wooldridge. “At the same time we must be aware of the dangers that social media and networking can present and we must have an avenue to address inappropriate usage of such”.
The purpose of this policy is to educate Hockey PEI’s membership on the risks of social media and to ensure all teams and Association personnel are aware that conduct deemed to be inappropriate may be subject to disciplinary action by the Team, the Minor Hockey Association, League and/or Hockey PEI.
“This new policy is not a deterrent regarding the use of social media, but to help educate our members on what is considered acceptable and not acceptable within the game”, stated Wooldridge.
